Arjen Janssens
CEO
Arjen Janssens is responsible for the overall leadership and strategy of the company. He started his career as strategic consultant at Arthur D. Little, after one year he became shareholder and consultant of Quintel Management Consultancy (spin-out of Arthur D. Little). In 2004 he enrolled into his PhD. at the University of Twente focussing on Piezo materials and pulsed laser deposition. During his PhD. he assisted MESA+ in business development, completed the Executive MBA at TSM business school of technology, and co-founded Solmates.
Matthijn Dekkers
CTO
Matthijn Dekkers is responsible for the research and development of thin film applications. Matthijn finished his PhD. in 2007 on transparent oxides deposited with Pulsed Laser Deposition He is the first author of many papers in which pulsed laser deposition plays an important role. As a co-founder of Solmates he is active in the company since 2006. Furthermore he is involved in the research on the integration of piezoelectric thin films into silicon technology.
Kristiaan Böhm
COO
Kristiaan Böhm is responsible for the development, production and service of the PLD deposition systems. Before he joined Solmates he worked for ASM Europe in various positions within the service department. At ASM Europe he was responsible for the installation and qualification of ASM Europe systems worldwide. In these positions he has worked (on-site) with most major Semiconductor manufacturers worldwide. Kristiaan holds an MSc. in applied physics.
Wico Hopman
Director Strategic Developments
Wico Hopman is responsible for strategic technology developments. Wico completed his PhD with cum laude distinction in 2007 on integrated optics at the University of Twente. Next, he started as design engineer automotive sensors at Sensata Technologies. Over the course of 10 years Wico assumed management roles at Sensata Technologies in engineering, product management, global product marketing and business development within the powertrain segment.
Bart Berenbak
Chief Business Development
Bart Berenbak is the head of Marketing & Sales and is part of the Management Team. He finished his PhD in 2001 on Physical Chemistry on molecular beam interactions with single crystal surfaces. He subsequently started his industrial career as Field Process Engineer at ASM-Europe, qualifying new equipment and applications. He contributed to the maturing of 300mm Vertical Furnaces through collaborations with renowned Semiconductor manufacturers and resolving many tool-down escalations throughout the world. Before joining Solmates, Bart held several senior management positions in innovative scale-up companies.
Rob Jansen
CFO
Rob Jansen is heading the Financial department combined with several organizational growth initiatives. Before joining Solmates in 2021, Rob gained broad experience in finance: from M&A and Equity Capital Markets advisory at Petercam (now Degroof Petercam), financial restructuring at PWC, as Chief Financial Officer of Inventum and by focussing on investments in High Tech companies in the start-up and scale-up phase for several investment funds. Rob holds a Msc. in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Twente.

Albert Hasper
Chairman Solmates Board
Albert Hasper, Ph.D. is currently the CEO of PHIX. Albert is an operational and technical executive with 25+ years of experience in international high-tech business-to-business industry. He was for 7 years the Managing Director of the Amtech Solar Companies. Before that he was the VP of Global Operations at ASM International. Prior to the VP role he served for more than 5 years as General Manager of ASM Europe and was world-wide responsible for the Vertical Furnace product line.
Albert holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Twente. He has authored and co-authored over 25 scientific papers in various scientific journals. He is an inventor of 13 issued US patents in the areas of CVD & ALD deposition and Capital Equipment.
Nard Sintenie
Solmates board member
General Partner Twente Technology Fund and Innovation Industries. Experience at Philips, NXP and other (international) co-operations in the Netherlands, USA and Asia. In these roles, common themes were turn-around and fast growth in developing markets. Nard has been frequently involved in Merger and Acquisition activities in 2008, Nard has taken his M&A and industry experience to the world of hightech start-ups.
He acted both as CEO for several companies, leading them through strategic change, as well as investor in promising high-tech companies in need of funding and industry advise. Nard holds a board position at several high-tech companies.
Paul van Attekum
Solmates board member
Paul van Attekum, PhD, fulfilled several executive and senior management positions during his 29 years at ASML in the fields of business development, business unit management, corporate strategy and sourcing & procurement. Prior to joining ASML, he worked for 10+ years at Philips, first in research and later in project management and as operations manager within the Semiconductor Division.
At present he is the director of Synovac BV.

Twente Technology Fund
The Twente Technology Fund is an independent venture capital fund aiming to capitalize on new technological developments. It provides investment capital to fund high tech entrepreneurial activity in Twente region in general and the University of Twente in particular. The Fund is a specialist fund, targeting companies that are developing commercially promising products and technologies in attractive sectors like Nanotecnology, Clean Technology, ICT and Biomedical Technology.
